No matter in which industry, products must speak, and the quality of all industries is an eternal topic. How to improve cable quality?
In recent years, news about cable quality issues has been constantly reported in the media. Since this year, quality inspections of wires and cables have been carried out all over the country: In the inspection branch of the Quality Supervision Bureau of Huangshi City, Hubei Province, special surprise inspections were carried out on the wholesale and retail outlets of wires and cables purchased by bidding for various engineering sites within the jurisdiction. It was found that a total of 12 projects were sampled for wires and cables to be installed and used, involving more than 20 products of 18 production enterprises, 4 unqualified products, and the sampling unqualified rate was 20%; In the special inspection of “3C” mandatory certification products by the Quality Supervision Bureau of Nanping City, Fujian Province, the wires and cables, solvent-based wood coatings and other production enterprises in the jurisdiction were suspended, cancelled or revoked. Whether the certificate enterprise has committed illegal acts such as illegal use of certification marks, whether the certificate is still valid, whether the enterprise has the necessary testing conditions, and whether the factory inspection is standardized;
In the first half of this year, the Chengdu Quality Supervision Bureau conducted a special supervision and random inspection on the quality of wires and cables in the city’s production field. This special supervision and inspection adopted a sampling inspection method. A total of 104 wire and cable production enterprises and 104 batches of products were inspected. After inspection, 101 batches were qualified, with a pass rate of 97.1%…
To improve the level of enterprise development, we must first ensure product quality. Therefore, to improve management innovation capabilities, we must improve the quality of enterprise product standards to lay a solid foundation for ensuring product quality. Although the enterprise quality management system has been established, new problems will continue to arise and we need to continuously improve it. Continuously improving the quality management system is an eternal topic of enterprise standardization. When national standards and industry standards lag behind new product development, enterprise product standards are an important guarantee for enterprises to participate in international and domestic market competition. The quality of enterprise product standards undoubtedly determines the competitiveness of enterprises in the market.
The quality problems of wires and cables mainly occur in small and medium-sized wire and cable enterprises. Of course, large wire and cable enterprises also have many products with various quality problems. However, from the various tests since this year, we can see that a large part of them are non-standard products, that is, counterfeit and shoddy products.
Counterfeit and shoddy products are partly non-standard, and partly product quality. For the product quality of wires and cables, the primary problem is raw materials. The wire and cable industry is an industry with heavy materials and light work. The quality of cables is directly determined by the quality of raw materials.
The second is production control. As a quality personnel in the wire and cable industry, what should be considered is how to improve and continuously improve the company’s unique quality control methods through the use of comprehensive quality management methods.
Quality awareness requires the execution of all employees and attaches importance to the participation of all employees. If an enterprise wants to ensure the quality of wires and cables, the first thing is to ensure the quality of raw materials, and the second is to strengthen process control, continuously achieve customer satisfaction, and achieve the goal of healthy and upward development of the enterprise.
The understanding of inspection according to relevant standards is: comprehensive evaluation conducted by using observation and judgment, appropriately combined with measurement and testing. The author believes that the purpose of inspection is to meet customer expectations for product quality, and any process planning should be carried out around customers.
When applying the process approach in the quality management system, the importance of four aspects is emphasized. First, understand and meet customer requirements. Secondly, consider the process from the perspective of value-added; obtain the results of process performance and effectiveness; and continuously improve the process based on objective measurement.
It can be seen how important process control is. Especially for the process control of wire and cable manufacturing, the sooner the problem is found, the better, because the manufacturing process is violent. It is difficult to solve it after it is found in the finished product, which will also cause unnecessary losses to the enterprise.
The quality inspection of the wire and cable production process is verified and inspected according to the requirements of the production plan, process instructions and operating procedures. There are various forms of inspection. Here we mainly focus on the product process inspection classified by production process, namely first-piece inspection, patrol inspection and completion inspection. Let’s talk about the first-piece inspection first.
The first-piece inspection should be very important, because it can find problems at the beginning, solve problems, formulate preventive measures, and prevent batch failures, which plays a very critical role. For example, a worker starts the extruder in the morning, and the heating temperature is reached, so he starts production.
Then it is the first piece inspection, to check whether the temperature of the extruder has reached the specified temperature, which can be checked from the glossiness of the discharged material, whether there are rubber particles, non-plasticized particles, etc. If there are, it means that the insulation time is not enough. Turning on the machine at this time will inevitably cause quality problems.
When unqualified products are found, they should be analyzed and preventive measures should be formulated. For the first piece inspection, self-inspection, mutual inspection and special inspection can be introduced. For the above three inspections, I think self-inspection is that the probability of operator inspection finding hidden dangers is higher than that of special inspection. There are many production machines in the workshop, and it is impossible for every machine to be inspected. At this time, self-inspection should play the importance of its position, which is also the gateway to prevent unqualified products from flowing into the next process.
But often the opposite is true. Inspections rely on special inspectors. This is also a bad concept. Quality requires the participation of all employees. It is not the obligation of that person, but the responsibility of everyone. Quality improvement is based on the degree of understanding of the standard and the flexibility of application. Everyone can be a quality inspector. Change the concept and the problem will be solved.
Wires and cables need to be inspected on a tour. The tour inspection is a full inspection of the workshop process by the quality inspector. It is believed that the inspection frequency of important processes and materials can be strengthened. Problems occur in an instant. Example: When worker A is doing normal production of stranded wire, the inspector measures the outer diameter of the conductor and finds that the outer diameter is reduced. At this time, the inspector should remember the process regulations and other things by heart, and the time to play has come.
The outer diameter becomes smaller, causing the electric positive to exceed the standard, and the worker should be stopped to check whether the diameter of the middle dry single wire is small or caused by the equipment, because the first piece inspection meets the requirements.
Find out the reasons, classify and count, and improve. Therefore, it is still necessary to urge the operators to be familiar with the process regulations and check the implementation. If the tour inspection is not timely, it will also cause batch failure.
The last thing to do is the completion inspection. The completion inspection is a form of inspection for the end of a semi-finished product to verify whether it meets the requirements. For example: the machine produces a reel of 10 kV overhead wire, then the completion inspection should first look at the number of conductors at the end, insulation thickness, thinnest point, average thickness, and finish. Analyze the quality through measurement and visual inspection.
Improving the quality of cable products is definitely not the task of a certain department or certain people, but the task of the entire industry. Improving the quality of cables cannot rely solely on the inspection of the quality inspection department, but also requires the active participation of multiple parties.
